Bootfitting

A proper fitting ski boot makes for a vastly superior ski experience.

Our business was founded on custom boot fitting in 1958.  A proper fitting ski boot makes for a vastly superior ski experience.  We have both the skills and boot selection to not only meet, but exceed, your boot fitting needs.  Many shops claim that they are “boot fitting experts,” but none can boast 125 years of combined professional boot fitting experience with three certified pedorthists on staff to boot.  Just ask any of our longstanding loyal customers where they go for their ultimate boot experience.

Strolz Boots - Handmade for The Perfect Fit!

Strolz boots include customized shells, liners and footbeds all manufactured by hand. The boot fitting and customization process takes about 2 hours and is by appointment and in-store only. One of our experienced pedorthists will evaluate you and your feet during a pre-foaming consultation.

The Fitting Process

Basin Sports in Killington Vermont - Specializing in Ski Boots for the Tough-to-Fit Foot Scarpa Ski Boots Step 1: Skier Type

Once we determine your skier type, we will match you with an appropriate shell configuration. We match shell stiffness, forward flex and cant to your weight, physiology and skier ability level. Strolz Boot shells are completely customized and are available in different heights and widths.

Step 2: Foot Analysis

A certified pedorthist will perform an analysis of your foot including taking footprints of your feet and evaluating them for size, shape and pressure points. The pedorthist will measure your feet for length, and width at the forefoot, instep and ankles to determine the precise shell size that will match the anatomy of your feet and give you superior control over your skiing.

Step 3: Foaming Process

Once we have selected the exact shell size for your feet, a custom footbed is prepared that will support and orient your feet in your Strolz ski boots. The custom-made footbed is trimmed to size and inserted into the leather liner. We then pad your feet and ankles in appropriate areas—each foot is different and may require slightly different size pads and unique orientation.

The padded foot is inserted into the boot and then finally, foam is injected into the boot. The foaming process gives the liner its permanent shape. After 12 hours of cure time, you are ready to ski in your brand new custom-fitted Strolz boots - the most important part of your ski equipment!
